Why Bloggers should Show their Pictures on their Blogs

Showing your own pictures on your blog is not really a requirement. While there are there are bloggers who choose not to do so; there are also those who proudly let the visitors see it. Most of them are posting it on their About page, in which you can also find mine.

Although this could be also dangerous in terms of stolen identity and lost of privacy, here are some of the reasons why I think all bloggers should also do the same.

A human blogger

Viewers can identify the blog as certified real and existing site as owned by humans and not by software. This means that no one can deny that he is the true owner of that blog. A blog without the picture of the owner can be doubtful in terms of authenticity and intention. We all know that Internet is being abused by some unidentified creatures, and most culprits do not reveal their real identity. In other words, it is like presenting an identification card without a picture.

Adds self-confidence

It boosts additional confidence of the blogger. Seeing your own picture in the Internet makes you proud especially if you are into internet marketing. Allowing millions of people around the world to look at your face needs a lot of guts, no matter how good your looks are. It can take away your shyness and this is very important if you want to gain more visitors. Moreover, your friends and relatives will be proud of you when they see it.

Increases credibility

Most likely, visitors will keep coming back because they know who exactly they are dealing with. They will realize that you are serious in what you are sharing because you are also sharing your face. If your visitors find your posts interesting, they will be interested in your identity which includes your face. It will also be a big help to promote your blog if they see you in person by accident. People can also identify you easily if you are being invited for speaking engagement.

Greater opportunities

Greater credibility means greater opportunities. A blog with the picture of the blogger has a greater chance of being trusted than those without. This is because it is quite hard to trust someone you do not see and know how he looks like especially if you are buying something on line or other internet businesses. If you will notice, most best selling books include the face of the author on its beautiful and attractive cover.

Our face is the best asset we can have, second to words.

There are pros and cons in revealing ones real identity in a blog, and also with the showing of the picture. But for those who are blogging professionally, or with a business where their name is their brand, I think they should post something about their credentials and perhaps a professionally-taken photo.

I like the idea of a photo – it puts a human touch to many blogs. Congratulations on a great looking theme and blog. If I was to give you a hint on plugins I would make a couple of suggestions – related posts, WP Super Cache and wordpress backup.

been reading your posts i agree with what you are saying as people do like to see a face of the person otherwise it could be just anyone out to conn you etc..it is too easy to pretend to be anyone when you are on the world wide web.so you really do need to be vigilant…
anyway this blog as helped me out today so many thanks….
