How to Avoid Burying your Blog
Success in blogging requires a lot of patience, time and effort. There are even times that you should spend money just to keep your blog alive. However, some bloggers commit mistakes unconsciously that make their blog deteriorate until it dies unnaturally.
The worst thing is that the blogger is not even aware about it. With him barely noticing it, his subscribers are gradually withdrawing and traffic becomes static. To have an idea, here are some situations you must avoid.
Posting irregularly
There are times when we are busy with other things, and posting will not be our priority. While you cannot avoid it, your blog status might suffer the consequences. To save your blog, you can invite guest bloggers to post for you. However, you must be sure they can help your blog while you are away. If you cannot find one, be courteous to your readers by informing them about your temporary absence and when they can expect you to return.
Frequent changing of theme
While it is fun to improve your blog theme, this can be harmful if you overdo it. This will also consume your time, which you can use for preparing for the next post and blog promotion. Your regular readers may also be annoyed with the frequent changes. So if you are interested in changing it, I strongly suggest that you have a wide variety of choices. Then perform trials and check the preview before saving it. It is also better to ask opinions from friends before publishing it.
Sudden change of blog niche
It is sometimes interesting to make off-topic posts. This is to attract new breed of readers to increase traffic. A major downside is when your regular readers will not appreciate your new topic. In addition, it is a bit harder to promote them. If you have a parenting blog, how can you expect your readers appreciate your posts about cars? So if you want to make experiments, find the right approach and timing.
Sharing false information
Giving useful tips and information to your readers is a very effective way to maintain them. But if you post unverified information, you may be misleading your readers. Your followers are counting on you and it is your obligation to tell the truth. To make sure that they are correct, spend time gather a lot of data. The more resources you have the better. I have been mentioning this from time to time, using your own tip is a must. This will prove that you believe in what you are saying.
Announcing old news
For bloggers who loves to share news, this is a good idea. Their posts will be on top of the leading social bookmarking sites, especially if the topic covers controversies about celebrities and politicians. However, this requires immediate promotion to be able to reach the readers on time. On the other hand, your readers will laugh at you, and may leave insulting comments if they will learn that your news is late. So before you post news, verify the source and their credibility.
A blog is a part of future, not a memory from the past.

First, sorry it has been a bit since I visited your blog.
You are so right, a situation just happened to me like this. We ended up leaving for our Labor Day trip a day earlier than planned and very quickly, we were gone for 4 days and I didn’t even have time to let my readers know. Especially when I try to post everyday, I felt really bad.
I know it stinks when you keep going on blogs you like just to find thay haven’t posted anything new for a week or sometimes even longer, you eventually do not make them your first blogs to visit.
Oh! I am guilty with your first two situations that you point out…and sometimes with the third also lol!
i dont agree with you about 1rst point
your posting frequency should depent on your traffic, it will be wasteful posting everyday on a blog that receiving only few hundred unique visitor. it requires exposure for a post to gain traction on social media sites like DIgg and stumble upon,
by posting too frequently on a new blog may take your blog post out of limelight. before the necessary amount of exposure can be reached.
posting 3 or 4 post a week is optimal for new blogger, this will give your content enough time to get the required exposure.
this posting strategy will ensure your content get attention it need mean while you can socialize with other bloggers comment on their blog in your free time,
Sunil, I think it depends on what do you mean by posting irregularly.
I agree that it should depend on your traffic, as well as your ideas about posting frequency.
However, when your subscribers and followers will learn that you are posting irregularly they might unsubscribe, and your followers will be patient and will not follow you anymore.
Hope that explains my side clearly.
Thanks for dropping by.
This is a great tip for me. I took almost 15 days off from blogging and I found my traffic coming down to my best blog. Now the readers started coming back with my continuous effort. Thanks for the tips.
