How to Maintain a Family Budget Effectively
One way to maintain a happy family is to be financially stable. When you are able to complete the daily needs and save a bit, there is a lesser chance of family feud. But to do this effectively, all members should cooperate and participate.
Parents should sit down with the children and discuss this matter seriously. Below is a good list of money saving tips that I think is effective and easy to follow.
Keep yourself busy
If you are busy besides work and school, you may tend to spend less money. Your concentration will be more on the extra activities that you are doing, instead of thinking of less important things to buy like junk food. For students, you can do summer jobs during vacation or be a volunteer in your community. For parents, it is better to stay at home and spend quality time for the kids instead of going out with friends.
Know the real savings
Sometimes we think that we can save some if we buy on sale things but are not necessary. Although the items are cheap, but it will be a waste if you really do not need it. For special occasions like birthdays and Christmas, planning ahead and stick on the budget is very helpful. For consumer products, take time to compute the ratio of your money to the volume of the product. Wholesale buying is always cheaper in the long run.
Choose your friends
It is nice to have a lot of family friends especially if they usually treat you to an expensive dinner. But for sure, that will not always be the case. You still have to pay for yourself sometimes. This therefore is not really saving you money. This is because you are still spending for the things you really cannot afford. There are also friends who love unreasonable shopping and they can influence you one way or the other. True friends are priceless.
Saving time is also saving money, I am sure you’ll agree with me. Time is an investment. It may not be that obvious but traveling, watching DVD or eating together as a family is not only about bonding and time conservation, but also saving money. How much gas, water and electricity will be consumed if these activities will be done individually? Multiply it to the number of your family members.
Do not get buried with loans
Avoid getting a loan to pay another loan. This is like burying yourself on a deep well. If applying for a loan is the last resort, get your calculator first. Although it may look expensive if you have health insurance and the like, this will save you money in case of emergency especially if your paycheck just fit for the daily needs. The best way to avoid a loan is to save a bit and spend only what you earn. This is quite difficult but to sacrifice is better than to suffer.
Money is only good if we spend it wisely.

Great Tips! If only they were easy to follow. Sometimes you get use to living too comfortably that it’s difficult to give up the things that you don’t really need.
Budgeting was so much easier when we didn’t have cell phones, cable, internet, etc…
