How to Save Money during Grocery Shopping
Admit it, life is hard these days wherever you are. Oil prices are increasing rapidly and sad to say, it seems to be uncontrollable. As this happens, a fast chain reaction follows up to the basic family needs such as groceries. The best that we can do is to think of ways on how to save money when going to the grocery. And because I am among those who are greatly affected, I searched for some tips through the Internet. Although there may be a lot of them, here are some that I tried at home and proven effective.
Make a comprehensive plan
One may think that making a list of groceries is enough to save money. Although it may help when you control what you buy, it would be better if you also consider the place of the grocery. How far is it from your home? Have you tried comparing of the price between the farther and the nearer store? A nearer place does not mean that the price is cheaper, as it also depends on the location. If there is a warehouse around, their price is much lower. In addition, prices are usually lower during mid-week days and a once-a-week shop is better.
Proper saving on products
I learned from ABC News that using coupons is the strategy of the so-called the Cheapest Family in the US. They have been getting them from newspapers almost everywhere. Look for discounted items and on-sale products. However, be very careful when you do this as they may already be toxic. Check the package, seal and expiration date. Even if some items are cheap, you should not buy them if you do not need them. On the other hand, highly commercialized products usually have the higher price as they have to pay the product endorser. Finally, bulk buying is more economical in the long run.

Monitor the prices
Prices vary depending on the inflation rate and other factors, and knowing which one is getting higher is very important. If you monitor it closely, you will have an idea on how much you should cut on other items. Watch the daily local news especially if they have the Price Watch portion. Reading business papers may also help you know which product will possibly have a price increase next time, and you can somehow prepare for it. Lastly, have a notebook and update it whenever you arrived from the grocery, and keep the receipts for future reference.
Leave the kids at home
Although it seems to be fun to bring children especially youngsters when shopping for grocery, it is not advisable if you really want to save money. They will tend to ask you to buy them this and that and worst, none of them is a healthy food. Junk foods are scattered around the grocery and sometimes we adults are even tempted to buy them. In addition, kids may also accidentally drop breakable items and of course, you will have to pay for it. But if it is unavoidable, let them eat first before going to the grocery, or prepare a simple sandwich with drinks and bring them along with you.
Bonus tip
Always check the cashier while she is scanning your items and count our change before leaving. Humans are prone to errors so we must also be responsible with ourselves.

Nice article Angel. This reminded me of a project I want to venture - will email you about it if you are interested. By the way, about the GDI thing, it somehow needs some time to build up your downline. It also involves educating people about the opps in online investments and investing a domain. But its real passive income - I can assure you that.

Thanks, Bloggista. Sorry, but I am afraid I cannot have time to join the GDI and I feel it is not for me. It is my pleasure to be invited anyway.
By the way, I saw your name at Ms. Janette Toral’s event attendacne list. I will be coming too and I am excited to see you there at the Casino Filipino.
