What it takes to be a Ratatouille Blogger

Anyone can cook – this is the belief of the great chef Gusteau that inspired Remy, the rat that has unique talent in sniffing and tasting good food and eventually became a little chef. The video clip below will remind about the award-winning film Ratatouille.

Actually, this is the latter part, in which I liked the most. This is the scene where the famous food critic Anton Ego announced his good review about the food he tasted, even if he knew that Remy “cooked” it.

Now, let us relate this to blogging. Anyone can blog – and this is true as it does not really take an Internet savvy to make a blog. Age does not even matter, as I know a 13-year old boy who has a very successful blog. Having a physical disability is not also a hindrance, as long as any of your fingers is still able, even if you have only your left thumb.

But what is it about being a Ratatouille blogger? How is it different from being a normal blogger? To help you find the logic, here are some of my thoughts.

Pursue a dream

We cannot just be a great blogger without a dream. If your measure of success is to make good money online, then don’t just dream. Work hard for it. Don’t wait for opportunities to find you, go and find them. Your Genie will not just pop out from the bottle, you got to find a way to open it. Things don’t just happen if we only keep our dreams.

Learn how to sacrifice

If you want to be successful, be ready to sacrifice a lot. To be great in anything, you must be willing to invest a lot of time. Allow yourself to suffer in order to reach the top of the mountain. Even rich businessmen who are enjoying a big bank account had their share of sacrifices too. You cannot get anything without giving up something, as there is no such thing as free lunch.

Share your knowledge

Readers need useful information, and they are not interested in your ramblings. Instead of blogging about your complains in life, why not share what you learned from them? In fact, it is even better to post your suggestions so people will not go through what you have experienced. Your small contribution might be big for others. After all, that’s what knowledge is for – to spread it. Nobody knows everything, anyway.

Don’t hide your self

If you have the talent, let others know that you have it. It may be scary at first because they might not believe you right away. But if you prove to them that you have that gift, then they have no reason not to accept you. Try every social site that you know, but use only those that are beneficial to you. However, think of the consequences first before you reveal your real identity.

Do something amazing

This is the most challenging part. There are millions of blogs around and most of them have quality content. But some of them have no appeal. A huge list of making money online resources is a sure hit, but that was before. Now, there are tons of similar posts if you Google it. Make a dramatic entrance, if you will like to get noticed. Let go the artist inside of you.

So to be a great blogger, be a Ratatouille blogger!

Not everyone can become a great blogger, but a great blogger can come from anywhere.

My biggest challenge in blogging is how to craft a beautiful article just like this one. Anybody can blog – but it takes more than just blogging to stand out from the rest.

One can resort to black hat SEO, feed cheating and artificial traffic just to get those high ranks but it will not tell how well you are as a blogger. So perhaps a Ratatouille blogger would aptly separate from the other bloggers. Honestly, I wanted to be just like that – not a make money blogger – just someone with the gift of writing quality contents, with sense, and artistic. I’m too far from it – but its not bad to dream to be one someday.

Now its up to me to make it forever a dream, or do something to get close to it. Sigh – it needs lots of time, patience, hardwork and dedication. I better have those first… Now its getting more difficult. Hehe. Am I making sense? Happy Holidays my friend!

Making money online is far from what I am earning right now. I am still looking for my space here but of course, I working hard to be a Ratatouille blogger.

By the way, I spend more than 4 hours for this post alone. I have a lot of ideas to blog, but it’s the time that is taking me too long.

Thanks for following me here. Hope to see you again.

you are so correct with this one Angel as in bulls eye pa nga e hehehe.. i have been not in a blogging mood for sometime because I am tamad or totally brainless this days (writer’s block) to think of anything to blog that others didn’t know of lol, i believe I miss the having a goal part of your post, having a dream and pursuing it, i miss making friends and visiting friends (entrecard thought me to just drop and bye lol and dropping consumes me a lot of time than thinking of what to post). now i am just busy ranting about my weight and getting back my self esteem and i hope people who are going through a situation like mine will get inspired to do the same ahehe (asa pa e noh) but ill try to find my mood again and be a productive blogger to our community :) thanks for this one Angel :)

I started blogging a year ago out of curiousity. In fact my only plan is to write anything about my life experience. Then i’ve found out that writing about self could be boring at times especially to the readers. Who cares about your life anyway, unless you are a popular boy next door in showbiz :-)

In my case, i was so attached to blogging. So addicted to it. I was booed by my own family, but time has come. That’s the essence of blogging – time. Time is so unpredictable, we do not know what it can give us for tomorrow, but we can make time more meaningful – value your time.

It takes time for one to be a successful blogger. Blogging is like a business, if you do not know your mission, you’ll end up nothing. In blogging our clients are our readers, treat them right and befriend them.

Sorry ang haba na pala ng comment ko. Nainspired ako sa sinulat mo Ka Angel. Keep Up!

    Hi Angel,

I just completed this new site – http://www.blogjoints.com and tested this post as one of the new submissions. It’s like a Digg or Yearblook site – and I intend to make this site grow over time.

  • Angel Cuala says:

JoanJoyce – I also encounter blogger’s block, and I think it’s just normal for any blogger. However, having a goal is a good choice so we know what we up to. By the way, I saw your photos in your blog and I think you’re still fit. You just need some maintenance to do…lol!

Ambo – Yes, being successful in blogging really takes time but if we are patient and hardworking, I think it’s easier to get there. Thanks for finding my post inspiring.

Mel – You have a very good advocacy in showing the world that we Filipinos are great. I joined to your group without any hesitation, and I hope our voices will be heard.

Bloggista – I think your new site is good. Thanks for submitting my post, and helping fellow bloggers. I just signed in, submit another post and hopefully, it will be a great success. Good luck!

  • monaco says:

Great post, Angel. I started blogging more than a year ago as an experiment. I have been reading other blogs for a couple of years and thought of starting my own, though I didn’t know how to start or what to write. Surprisingly, I liked it and now I’m addicted.

In the process I have learned a lot of things, the most important of which is not to try to be something you’re not. Blogging does not only involve the mind but the heart as well. And that’s very hard to fake. We should write something that we like, something that we can connect to. Others try to copy other bloggers’ styles and failed. That’s not how to do it. Blogging should be about you and for you, not for other people.

  • ceblogger says:

We’ll be great bloggers someday. Hopefully! Not for money or fame’s sake but for our contribution to society as a whole.

  • Nicely says:

it’s ok with me kahit di ako sumikat sa blogosphere basta ang mahalaga i am being able to express what i want to share with others. maybe, in no small way, i influence others’ lives nang di ko alam. blogging is for all, it’s our right.

  • MLRebecca says:

I really enjoyed the connection you made between blogging and Ratatouille. You’re absolutely right, too. Anyone CAN blog; if you have a goal in mind, however, you have to be willing to sacrifice. You give some really great advice! Thanks for posting!
