Please choose the Right Toys for your Child this Christmas
Toys are the best friend of our children, especially this Christmas. In fact, they will exchange them for anything. They are even willing to skip meals, just to have more playing time. If you bring your child to a toys store, they will choose the ones that will caught their attention.
However, parents should be conscious of what they will give to their child. Not all toys are applicable to all kinds of children. They depend on structure, material, and purpose.
The structure includes the possibility that your child might be hurt with its sharp edges and moving parts. Children who are under 2 years old tend to put their toys inside their mouth, and may swallow the small parts. Therefore, puzzle toys and the like should be chosen carefully before offering them to your little child. Heavy and breakable toys are not advisable to toddlers because they will most likely drop them. Safety always comes first.
The material also plays an important role. Some toys may be made from toxic material like lead that can be inhaled by your child. Parents therefore should look for the Non-Toxic label before buying them. If the material used is not of good quality, it can easily be broken which can cause harm to the sensitive skin of your child. For babies and toddlers, metal toys are not advisable. Sometimes, the things that we do not see can be more dangerous.
This Christmas, children want to receive toys because they feel excited to play with them. However, you must also consider another purpose – to educate them. For little boys, toy cars are definitely better than toy guns. With toy cars, they will be able to analyze how it works and some principle of science. For young girls, dolls are their common interest. But you can also add accessories such as like cooking toys. They will be able to use their imagination on how to handle household activities.
I never enjoyed any toy when I was a child because my father cannot afford to buy me one. Now that I have my own children, I try to buy them toys. But it does not mean I will spoil them. I believe that playing is not for entertainment only, but can also contribute to what kind of citizen they will be when they grow up.
If you want an interesting book for your child, you can try The Cat who lost its Meow.

dapat talga mag-ingat. lalo na un porke mura e bibilhin na.gaya non napanood ko sa news na kapag ang toy/s e natitiklap ang pintura e malaki ang led content. kya mas magaling na sigurado ka sa bibilhin mo
galing kami sa mall last saturday to look for some toys… napansin ko lang, the younger the age bracket, mas mahal ang toys, grabe.
I too find it important to choose educational an appropriate toys for my kids which is durable and non-toxic. There are so many poor quality and overpriced toys in the market nowadays.
My kid has been bugging me to buy him PSP, in fact the other week, he scribbled on paper some toys he wanted this Christmas:
Dear Santa (are you real?),
Please help Mom and Dad buy me toys. I want bakugan, ben 10 omnitrix, hotwheels, nintendo DS or PSP, …..
it was a long list, complete with Description of the items, with about a dozen toys… But I already told him he can’t have all of those, and he needs to work on some of them as they maybe pricey.
Then he said okay Dad, can we just drop by tianggi and let’s just buy those cheaper ones, and its okay if you don’t buy all of those, I just gave you options. And I’m ok with my GameBoy, so no need to buy PSP, maybe when I save money and a bit older, you help me buy it okay? Deal?
LOL. I gave him a Big Yes, and told him I got some surprises for him for topping his class and for perfecting his math exams.
I believe aside from making it a reward, toys can be enough motivation for kids. But they should also understand that they can’t just have them easily. I mean, its ok, even at their age to emphasize that there’s money involve and that money is hard to earn. They will understand….
Educational toys are better substitute to give your child this Christmas. Training them at an early age would be an easy way to accept the kind of entertainment they want.
Bloggista – You’re right. Toys can also motivate children. I admire your son, and I believe you are good in teaching him to be a good person someday.
JoanJoyce – We know our children well, and we can control them while they are still young. Please take note that we can divert their minds as early as we can. However, I am not against in any gender as I believe it’s still the character that’s more important.
i made my own toys when I was kid, usually made of paper. and i only got to play family computer (nintendo) when I was already a grown up.
Yes, Ambo you are right. educational toys are good substitute. But I realize also that buying toys that does not interest them is only a waste of money. I just give them the budget and it is up to them to choose the toy they wanted.
Agree! Ganyan nangyayari sa pamangkin ko! Kaso daling magsawa sayang ang pera. Bata talaga. Buti na lang ako di mahilig sa toys. hehehe
kinda off topic:
you won’t believe how cheap kids toys ngayon. even the hanna montana toys which use to be like hotcakes and pricey for kids are now just $5 hahaaahaha and they are really really cheap.
ang kairita – bat mga toys? samen ang mahal pa rin nang everything, though gas is really cheap but then again, winter sino naman kaya ang mag da drive in the middle of snow
anyway
my pangkin’s toys are in the garage. yong kotse namen nasa labas na dahil lahat nang toys will only stay for a few days and then iba naman. grabe!
