The Best Christmas Gift Parents can give to their Children
Christmas is the most awaited season of the year by our children. They know that it is this time that they will receive a lot of gifts such as new set of toys, and new clothes to wear. But what is the best Christmas gift that we can give them? I know what your answer is, love.
But how can we give it to them using the gift that we will buy for them? What are the kinds of gifts that can be enjoyable, educational, and can be shared with you as his parent? Here are some of my suggestions, and I know you can easily buy them anywhere.
Little children love to paint and do some coloring, I am sure. Therefore, make this a priority in your list, and find attractive coloring books. Painting materials also serve the same purpose. Both of them invite creativity and art from your child.
If your child is a girl, you can buy some decorating items that are attractive enough. With this, you can join your child as she uses her imagination. Furthermore, this is also a good time to bond with your child.
You can also consider buying your child a set of board games like Chess, Snake and Ladders, and Scrabble. They will not only help cultivate his mind, but also teach him how to deal with problems. Although they may find it boring to play with, it is your convincing power and how you motivate him that will make it interesting. But of course, you don’t have to force him if he give up easily and be attracted with other toys or games. Let him be and offer them again later.
But then, I think the best gifts you can give to your child are educational and inspiring books. I know that it we can now easily check out the Internet, and ask our child to read it online. However, I believe there’s nothing better than reading a book to him. Children love to hear stories from us with our matching action of each character, until they fall asleep.
There might be other kinds of toys that are on your mind as a parent. However, remember that toys are more enjoyable if our child is enjoying them with us.
If you want an interesting book for your child, you can try The Cat who lost its Meow.

This is such a refreshng post. Only an hour ago a co-worker came to me and was thinking about collecting donations for a lady who was said to be falling on hard times in this economic climate and couldnt afford a wonderful gift for her 6-year old daughter.
When I asked what the wonderful gift would be if we donated money, the answer was: A Nintendo DS!!
Tracy – nice sharing of story. Can’t help but give a big laugh.
Another great post from a great writer.

i remember a quote about love and giving which says “You can give without loving, but you can’t love without giving”.
I like the reminder of giving books as gifts. I too am an advocate of reading to your children. However, when it comes to Christmas, I always try to give my children something that I would not normally buy for them on other days of the year. For example, I don’t normally buy toys for my children, but Christmas is an exception.
I’ve made my own list of 8 Christmas gifts ideas for kids:

i agree with you angel, books are really great as gifts. I’ve given books to countless god-children as well as my own daughter. It’s really nice to see them read it, learn to love reading, and take care of the book like a treasure.
I hope my parents would give me something this christmas. Books would surely be great. Take care!
I won’t be buying any books for the kids this Christmas as have already bought quite a number for them this year.
This year we will be doing some crafts(Baking together) to give to others in our family and friends. Time spend together and doing something side by side is the best gift that I can give them this season.
