Dengue Fever: How My Wife Cheated Death through the Help of Fellow Filipino Bloggers
On my last post, I shared to you that Dengue fever hurt my daughter and almost killed my wife. Now, I am very glad to tell you that that she is now at home as per advised by her doctor. However, the ordeal was not easy and she has not yet fully regained her strength. Her body is still weak, and she will need a couple of days more to rest.
This is because she underwent not once, but two blood transfusions to increase her platelet. It took her three more days under observation to make sure that it is consistently increasing. When it reached 97, it’s the only time that the doctor said she can already taste a food. As I have also mentioned earlier, it was a nightmare as the high expenses is an additional burden for us.
I must admit, the voluntary contribution of fellow Filipino bloggers helped a lot. I could not imagine how I was able to produce 10,000 pesos within 24 hours. I never expected that there will be a kind blogger who patiently send an email to his online friends, and left comments on blogs containing my problem. A few hours later, I received a lot of text messages and phone calls asking me to confirm about my problem. Note that this was during the wee hours of the morning, when you will least expect to receive at least one.
The whole day made me busy, as more messages are coming in informing me that they donated and even helped me to get the faster – through Western Union. This continued for the next days, and I was really overwhelmed with the response. One of them even went back and forth to the bank just to deposit money, and offered her Paypal account to get more support. There was even a mother of a blogger who came to visit us in the hospital personally, who came along from a very far away town. But what really strike me is that they requested me not to disclose their names online. They definitely have a golden heart, I should say.
Although there were some who informed me that we cannot help me financially, they offered prayers and made a separate post to spread the word. For me, that’s more than enough. I just wish someday that I could also have the opportunity to help others.
The total hospital bill of both my wife and daughter reached 62,000 pesos and a very big part of the payment came from my fellow Filipino bloggers.
So in behalf of my family – Thank you very much!
On my future posts, I will make a research about this Dengue fever and share them with you to give you more ideas on how to avoid it, and possibly cure it at home as early as possible.
