How I Am Saving Money during Valentines Day (but being more romantic)

Last time, I shared to you some Valentines gift myths as well as some practical ways to save money. This time, it’s time to share how I am saving money during Valentine’s Day. I also tend to avoid doing the traditional ways of showing my love and affection. I love to do things that are very unique, in which I think is more romantic and unforgettable.

It is not a secret that I am married for more than 12 years to the same woman, and I am very proud of it. But what I think that most people do not know about me is I love creating love poems. In fact, the total love poems I gave to my wife since we met reached more than thirty!

But here’s how I gave my first rose to my wife while we were still sweethearts. Actually, I already forgot the year but I will never forget the scene. It was Valentine’s Day, but I am quite broke that day so all I can buy is a single rose. Then, I thought of giving it her in the most unique way I can. By the way, her birthday fell on Valentine’s Day which is double the fun but costs less…lol!

To continue, she was in school then but I rushed to their house alone. I asked permission from her relatives that I will disassemble her cabinet by removing the hinge of the door carefully, and promised to return it back after I put the rose inside where it will fall once the door is opened. So when Mylene came, I acted as if nothing happened and wait till she changed her clothes. Minutes later, I heard her scream and I knew my strategy was successful.

Three years ago, another unique idea came into my mind. I requested all my friends, office mates, and even the ones who don’t know my wife, to send their personal greeting messages on her birthday. Of course, I did not tell it to my wife. So when I came home, she was sweetly complaining that she was not able to finish some household work. She was very busy reading and replying to text messages the whole day that reached almost 80 text messages!

I must admit, I am really allergic when it comes to spending money just to express my feelings. I always think that it is the thought and the creativity that counts. Mind you, I even create poems for my wife even without any occasion.

How about you? I would love to hear your story.

Its good that until now, you are still trying to win your wife’s heart. I guess its very important in every relationship.

As for me, I don’t usually do different stuffs on valentines, maybe because I am a “corny” romantic guy who wants to make my partner smile everyday…

Hehehe. So perhaps, just an Ice cream on cone on Valentines day while walking holding her hands will do for me. :-)

  • Angel, you are so romantic and creative.
