Angel Cuala for President?

First of all, preparing to run for president of the Philippines in 2010 is not what’s keeping me from blogging for more than a month. There were just so many things that I should attend to, and they cannot wait.

Anyway, my daughter’s nickname is also Angel who happens to be nominated as class president in her high school freshman class. Although I have never been elected as a class officer during my school days, I know how hard is to be one. So when my daughter told me about this, we talked about it seriously and here are some of my advises.

1.0 It is a big responsibility rather than just a status symbol and being famous. A lot of people will depend on you.

2.0 You should be able to set a good example in and out of the school. Always be trustworthy.

3.0 You should clearly understand the tasks of each officer, and be able to lead them well enough.

4.0  You must know how to balance your time so that your academic performance will not be affected.

5.0 You should be able to handle pressure, and maintain composure whatever problem will occur. In short, you must be strong.

6.0 It is good opportunity to improve your communicating skills and personality, but you can never please everybody no matter how good you will be. So just do your best at all times.

7.0 It may open doors to other opportunities in extra curricular activities, but you must know when to decline them. Learn to say NO.

8.0 You should be willing to step down once you realize that you are not fit for the job. Anyway, resigning does not mean you’re coward.  In fact, I even think it is an act of dignity.

9.0 You should be able to open your ears to suggestions, reactions, and observations. By doing so, you will have ideas on how you stand and how to improve more.

10.0 You must enjoy herself as a young lady. Being a class president does not mean you should always look serious and will not mingle with other students anymore. Have time to relax and be happy.

Whether she will win or not, I told her that I am always proud of her. I will support her all the way, through thick and thin, and always be here to guide her.

So if you also have children in the same situation,  take it seriously as it will mold them to be a better person someday. Who knows? Your child might be the future president of your country.

Speaking of nomination, I would like to thank all fellow bloggers who included my blog in their list of TOP 10 Emerging Influencial Blogs for 2009 which is a project of Ms. Janet Toral. I don’t expect to win since being nominated is already too much honor for me. Winning however will be a great bonus.

Lastly, I am open to any online writing job. If you’re interested in hiring me, please feel free to send me a mail at afvc_623[at]yahoo[dot]com or contact me at 09193208296.

Hope to be back to regular blogging soon.
