Baby Stairway Gates: Keeping your Kids Safe at Home
As parents, we are always making sure that our kids are safe at home. Although some of us may have someone to look after them while we are at work, we also should think of other ways to ensure their safety. If your house has a second floor, it is very important that is has a baby Stairway Gates.
However, there are a lot of types of Baby Gates and it might be confusing for you to choose what you should buy. With this, here are some tips on how you can determine which one you really need and how you can be sure that your baby is safe.
First of all, the three types of Child Safety Gates are as follows. The hardware mounted gates, the pressure mounted gates, and the walk-though gates which has a sliding door.
The hardware mounted gates is the most secured type and are ideal for the top of stairways. The pressure mounted gates are also easy to install, and they expand to fit the opening width. However, they should never be used at the top of a stairway since some children can possibly remove them.
The walk-though gates, on the other hand are not ideal for stairways but are most often used in doorways to separate rooms or to block off wide openings.
Now, the factors that you should consider are location, size, mounting, frequency of use, and of course the cost. However, remember that cheaper products does not necessarily mean that the quality of the product is low.
For the safety of your kid, here are some tips that you should always remember.
1.0 Avoid using an expandable wood gates with a diamond shape mesh or any pointed top. Your baby might climb on it, and it hurt their fingers.
2.0 Choose gates which have a vertical slat design, since gates with square mesh or horizontal can be used as footholds for your baby to climb the gate.
3.0 As I mentioned earlier, never use a pressure mounted gate at the top of a stairway since kids may possibly dislodge them.
4.0 Follow the manufacturers instructions religiously, as they were made for your child’s safety.
