Top 10 Christmas Gifts for your Teenagers
Well, I must admit. My eldest child is not really a child anymore, as she just turned 13 last March. And this is the stage that a lot of changes happened to her, not only in physical appearance. This includes her interests in different things, in which as her father I should be very understanding.
Now that it’s gift giving time again, I know I should change too. Gone are the days that she would beg to me for a doll house, and I now welcome myself to the world of teenagers.
So if you are the same situation, here is the list of top 10 Christmas gifts for teenagers that I suggest and I hope you read this before you go shopping.
1.0 A CD of her favorite artists. Just be sure that they are still their favorites, as they easily change their minds. You may not appreciate the music they like, but you need to respect them.
2.0 A DVD collection although you know they already watched them in the movies. Just like us adults, there are films that they want to watch over and over again.
3.0 Latest electronic gadgets which includes iPods, MP3, and others. You may include cell phones but be sure she really needs one and she is responsible enough to use it.
4.0 Funky shirts with unusual messages, pants, and designer clothes. However, be sure that they will love the design and color. Otherwise, they will be kept in their closet forever.
5.0 Personal stuff like purse for girls and wallets for boys. These are only among the things they will be using everyday, and you can think of anything else. This will mean that you are aware of the additional items they need for their daily life.
6.0 Books and magazines depending on their hobbies. Most teenage girls love to read romantic stories, while the boys love sports. I suggest you don’t buy them education-related books this Christmas season, since you will really have to buy them on ordinary school days.
7.0 A concert ticket especially if it is among her favorite artists. But then, you need not to accompany her as long as you know and trust the ones she will be with. For teenage boys, rock concerts may not be that safe so you need to remind them how to take care of themselves.
8.0 A remodeled room, if you can afford it. Teenagers may not like their cute and colorful rooms anymore, as they prefer it to be a customize one. However, you should ask them for suggestions before you change it.
9.0 A make-over for girls and a driving training course for the boys, or anything that will somehow improve their looks and point of interest. This way, they will be more appreciative to beauty and responsible.
10.0 Cold cash, as in cash money. Yes, why not? Then, allow them to buy their own gifts during your family Christmas shopping. Give them the freedom to buy for themselves especially if they are in their late teens.
Apparently, we should also realize that teenagers are turning into young adults. If you spent quality time with them since they were small, then you will easily know what they want. If you are guiding them properly, then you don’t have to worry on how they will spend their money.
Finally, I assume they are also aware about the current economic crisis. Therefore, they will understand if you will not be generous with your Christmas gifts. After all, gift giving is only a small part of enjoying Christmas. What matters is that your gift truly comes from your heart.
More importantly, teenagers should feel that they are being understood by their parents and they are enjoying a happy family.
