Blogging Tip: Do not Publish your Killer Post tomorrow
To attract visitors from search engines, bloggers are doing their best to make a killer post. This can also increase subscribers and regular followers. In fact, it is one of the strategies to increase traffic. However, a killer post can also kill itself if it is being posted at the wrong time.
No matter how good your writing skills are, only a few will be interested to read it. Even if you are optimizing your keywords, almost nobody will search about it. Bloggers do not even have to be an SEO expert to understand this. Even newspaper journalists are using this principle, every time a special event will occur.
Now, I suppose all of you are aware that tomorrow is the scheduled non-title bout – Manny Pacquiao vs Oscar dela Hoya which was dubbed as The Dream Fight. This boxing match is very popular, and is being much awaited. Filipinos, Mexicans, and even Americans are so excited to see this. Read the rest of this entry »
I won a Problogger Book by sharing the Best Blogging Tip
Inspire others, and be useful to them. This is the best strategy so far, even better than search engines and all the social sites you can find.
This is my official entry to Kevin Muldoon’s contest held recently on his Blogging Tips forum, in which the judge was no less than the Problogger himself, Darren Rowse. The contest was quite simple though. Contestants were asked to share his best blogging tip in 140 characters or less.
So what now if I won? Well, the Problogger book may be old to some but still is ageless to me. It was launched last April of this year, with Chris Garrett as the co-author. It has a wide collection of blogging tips of the Problogger, which include the following topics. Read the rest of this entry »
Making Money from Adsense: Gain or Pain?
Obviously, I have Adsense on my blog. I started this blog four months ago, but I have 2 other blogs at Blogger that also have Adsense, and are more than one year old. However, I now seldom touch them since I am more focused on this blog.
But here’s the great news – I am now about to reach my first $100 from Adsense after more than 1 year of using it! Am I happy? Of course, I am. I worked for it somehow. But what am I driving at? Well, I think now is the right time for me to share my ideas about Adsense. So I hope you join me here, and let’s talk about it professionally.
Making good money from Adsense
It is given that a high-traffic blog has the greater chance of making good money from Adsense. Targeting the most searched keywords, and make series of posts about it is a very effective way. Adsense bloggers earned a lot from the recent US President election, and will earn again if they are blogging about the upcoming Pacquiao – De la Hoya fight. Therefore, I can conclude that niche bloggers are more likely not to make good money from Adsense consistently. Read the rest of this entry »
How to Write Effective Product Reviews
Product reviews is one way to make money online, and it really is. Some bloggers join sites like SponsoredReviews and gained some bucks from them. However, it is being avoided by others for the fear of penalty from Google. But if you are into affiliate marketing, you also need to make reviews for your products. Freelance writers also earn good money by submitting product reviews to different sites. I was hired for a couple of times, and my client was generous enough to give me some tips.
With this, I would like to share them to you and I am sure they will be of great help. Read the rest of this entry »
How to avoid Scam Blog Contests
Screen shot from Contest Blogger
Holding a contest in a blog is a good way to increase subscribers, links and even traffic. I see nothing wrong with it especially if the prize is attractive such as cash. In fact, I ran a small one when I was still a member of Entrecard, and even joined some. Luckily, I won some ad space and an interview that I will never forget.
However, bloggers especially newbies should be aware that some of them may be scam. Although it may look hard to detect which one is scam or not, one should only have some common sense to be smart enough. The tips below may not be the actual indication of a scam contest, but they can serve as clues. Read the rest of this entry »

RSS Icon credit to Smashing Magazine
It is a fact that subscribers will help your blog to stay alive. This is because they are your regular readers and it takes a lot of hard work increase them even if you using the most attractive RSS Icon in town.
But the worst thing that can happen is that they are getting few, and you cannot force them to stay. One thing is for sure, you are doing some things that your subscribers do not like. As a blog subscriber myself, here are some of the main factors that stops me from subscribing.
Long and boring posts
While it is alright to write long posts, they should not be boring. On the contrary, they must be more interesting as they are reading it. This is where your creativity comes in. If you want to write long posts, learn how to minimize grammatical errors and avoid useless words and phrases. Be straight in what you want to say. If you think you have many things to say about a single topic, make a series part and inform your readers about it. Read the rest of this entry »
What Bloggers can learn from the 2008 US Presidential Election
This day, Americans will vote for their 44th president and this is an easy task. Knowing that the US is now suffering a great loss from their economy, and another terrorist attack may be just around the corner. While we hope that the latter will not occur, the world is now watching the latest news. Will it be Obama or McCain? I am a Filipino and may not be directly affected by the result.
But as a blogger, I learned a lot of things during the campaign. I may not be familiar with the platform of each candidate, but there are some interesting points that can be related to blogging.
But before that, I strongly advise to save your best post on another time. I bet you will agree with me when I say that it is not a good time to post them, not unless it is about the 2008 US Presidential Election. Anyway, here are the lessons I learned and hope you can learn too. Read the rest of this entry »
How to use Kaizen to Improve your Blog

I have worked for different Japanese companies for over ten years and as I observed them, they are very workaholic. No wonder that they have a very stable career in terms of technology. One of their effective strategies in everything they do is Kaizen.
It is a Japanese term which means improvement, or continuous improvement. Although the whole process looks complicated, it is the PDCA cycle that makes it simple and it can also be applied to blogging. Here it goes. Read the rest of this entry »
