How a Father should Love his Teenage Daughter

Time flies so fast, and I am really surprised that my only daughter is now 13. I am 30 years older than her so I thought that we will have a generation gap. But I am just glad we do not encounter such problems.

Angelene is now taller than her mom, while her interests are gradually becoming different. Therefore, it is also time for me to change the way I treat her. I must admit, I am still learning but I already learned a lot.

With this, here are some ways that I think on how a father should love his teenage daughter. Read the rest of this entry »

Happy 13th Wedding Anniversary, my Mylene!

I know I should have posted this on my personal blog, but I choose not to because my main blog has a wider audience.

Anyway, today is our 13th wedding anniversary, and I am very happy that I am still married to the same woman; Mylene.

Well, the past 13 years of my life was not perfect but I have no regrets. I cannot even imagine myself being married to another woman except to my wife.

The fact that we have been steady for more than six years is enough to say that I will be happy for the rest of my life if I marry her.

As I said, my marriage is not perfect but I am glad my wife is still holding on. With that, I would like the world to know what I feel right now.

Below is my supposedly my love letter to my wife, and I want to share it with you. Read the rest of this entry »

The End of Money War and My All-time Favorite Love Poem

If you are not a big fan of GMA-7’s Korean telenovela – Money War, then you are missing one-third of your life. I did not watch all the episodes, but I understand clearly what the message wanted to convey. In case you missed it, it is a good story of how money can do badly to us.

It focused on people involved in private money lending business, and how good they are. It emphasized how you can be successful in it, but be the worst nightmare for your clients. While there is a bit touch of romance, this was not delivered as sweet as lovers would expect. Actually, it was very uncommon but realistic. In fact, the ending was sad but was meant to be. Dengue Fever: How My Wife Cheated Death through the Help of Fellow Filipino Bloggers

On my last post, I shared to you that Dengue fever hurt my daughter and almost killed my wife. Now, I am very glad to tell you that that she is now at home as per advised by her doctor. However, the ordeal was not easy and she has not yet fully regained her strength. Her body is still weak, and she will need a couple of days more to rest.

This is because she underwent not once, but two blood transfusions to increase her platelet. It took her three more days under observation to make sure that it is consistently increasing. When it reached 97, it’s the only time that the doctor said she can already taste a food. As I have also mentioned earlier, it was a nightmare as the high expenses is an additional burden for us. Dengue Fever: How It Almost Killed My Wife and Hurt my Daughter

Last week, another challenge came to my life and the worst so far. It was the most unforgettable nightmare I ever had, that I wish would not happen to anyone. Last Monday (January 19, 2009) afternoon, my wife felt strange and had a fever. She immediately took a rest from her sewing job at home, and took some Paracetamol.

However, it did not seem to help her as her fever continued to rise. She was felling very cold, and she complained of severe muscle pain. The next morning, she turned a bit alright so we thought it was just a normal flu. But still, she continued to rest and medication. That night, she was worst than ever. She cannot even move her body, and her fever reached 40.

I had no choice but to rush her to the nearest hospital via emergency room. In short, she was confined – for the first time in her entire life, due to sickness. Read the rest of this entry »

Loving a long lost Child

Guess who is in the picture below? You’re right. It’s me when I was around 4 years old, and I love sharing it online. This is because this photo tells a lot about my life story. I am not ashamed to tell everybody that I grew up in a broken family. I even shared it in a two-part interview here and here.

I knew the whereabouts of my mother when I was 19. But I was already 23 years old when I met her for the first time. That meeting was a tough one, just like the ones you watch on a TV drama series and movies. As expected, problems lead to another problem and another. Both of us were enjoying our silly ego, and none of us would want to give in.

However, this post is not just about me. This is about all the parents who once lost their child, and now has the opportunity to be with him again. Unfortunately, your child is now a total stranger. Many things had changed after all those years, and both of you may not be ready to accept that. Before you lose him again, you might want to consider some important things.
